Cabin Fever

Most years in New Hampshire where we live, the snow has flown  at least once or twice and has started to pile up past our ankles. It is a strange sight to be looking out the kitchen door a week before Christmas and see the grass and the fall leaves missed in fall cleanup.
“Cabin Fever” is what it usually looks like here in the winter..a whiteout storm, low light and a warm fire keeping us toasty.
Usually it is Cricket and Lucy snuggling on the Orvis bed, but this time last year, my brother’s labs stole the coveted spot in the heart of the home…our kitchen.
I painted this small work for possible inclusion in an upcoming theme show titled “Cabin Fever” at East Colony Fine Art Gallery in Manchester NH.

Holiday Open House at East Colony Fine Art Saturday, Dec 3

East Colony Fine Art Gallery will be hosting it’s Annual Open House this Saturday, Dec. 3 from 10-5.
Enjoy light refreshments while shopping a selection of original 6″x6″ artworks offered by the artists for $75.00 each.
Be sure and arrive early to grab up these fantastic little pieces. I have my eye on a few…they are going to get snapped up quickly! Still life, collage, watercolor, oil, landscapes…there is a 6×6 for every taste and interest.. (psst…hey, Carrie…there are a couple of really awesome chicken paintings by Pat LaBreque!)

My two 6″x6″ paintings “Double Stuff” and “Follow Follow” will be available as part of the 6″x6″ art sale at East Colony. I am hoping to have a few more available if time allows this week.

Last year, I offered a limited run of my wall calendar featuring some of my favorite labrador retriever watercolors. To my surprise, they were all spoken for in short time.
I have had several inquiries about whether I will have a 2012 wall calendar and after putting out feelers on Facebook, it seems there is plenty of enthusiasm!
The good news is that the price of the calendars is the same as last year $19.95 plus $5.00 shipping Priority USPS. They make great gifts for the dog lover!
The calendars are printed on heavy stock and have a gloss finish and the printing quality is outstanding.

This year, I will be happily donating a portion of the sales of these calendars to Southern California Labrador Retriever Rescue. This is a wonderful group that tirelessly pulls adoptable Labs from shelters, fosters and finds new, wonderful families to love them unconditionally.

Opening Reception Friday, November 18th, 5:00-7:30 p.m.

East Colony Fine Art Gallery is proud to feature the pottery of Bob Roy, and paintings by Molly Poole, one of its newest artists, during the month of November. Bobs’s pots, bowls and art pieces are striking for their interesting textures and glazes. He teaches his craft in Goffstown, and specializes in the ancient art of Raku. Molly’s deep love of animals, and relationship with her own dogs, inform her art. Working primarily in watercolor, her loose style and bold colors powerfully portray the joyous and irresistible moments in the lives of animals, particularly dogs for this show.

Please join Bob, Molly, and the other East Colony artists on Friday, November 18th, from 5:00 – 7:30 p.m. for the festive opening of this wonderful new show. Appetizers and wine will be served. Animal Rescue League of NH Fundraiser wine generously donated by Grape Time Winery. The exhibit runs from November 1 through November 26, 2011.
